This is my first icon ever
This icon consists of 2 elements, the round shape in the back and the “VP” word in the front.
The word, as you can see, is a “V” and a “P”. That is my name, Vinh Phuong. (I leave the “I” in the middle of the V and P on purpose, as everyone can read it as V.I.P, lol)
The round shape, in Eastern thinking and my opinion, stands for fullness and completeness and continuity of everything in this world. Till this time, I live with a belief: “Everything I do, both bad and good, will be paid back”. Therefore, I have always lived usefully and did nothing bad (or limit my bad action as much as possible, lol)
In general, my icon shows my point of view: “I am a small part of a world of continuity, my objective and everyone’s is to continue what our fathers and brothers could not do. In another word, to connect the past, present and future”.
About the color, my hobby is movie, especially mysterious ones. So that I used dark and gradient color. I like gradient because, in my opinion, it expresses the continuity.

Voila... another cool icon! I could tell all the meanings except for the VIP and the continuity =) What I love most is the idea of gradient pattern expressing the sense of continuity, which is new to me, but perfectly right. This could be the inspiration for my future designs. Thanks, buddy!
Simple but sweet. Gives both the feeling of something "hand-made" (the stroke seems like being hand drawn) and of something "computer-made" :D (the gradient). The gradient does look great on the letters V and P because the shadows that it make on the top of bottom of those characters .
But, hey, Phuong, I do not see this meaning: "I am a small part of a world of continuity, my objective and everyone’s is to continue what our fathers and brothers could not do. In another word, to connect the past, present and future". @_@
hm...the idea is very good ^__^ as well as your drawing however, I think the gradient of circle around is let "VP" letter be less attention because both color of background and object are dark (this also leads to a little bit too dark in your icon). Maybe you can try to change to lighter color to emphasis the object inside...

The way to use simple letters( actually not simple in creating VIP:D) exactly comes from you, sometimes a strict uncle and sometimes a funny boy:)).
You have won the prize for meaningful simplicity.However, I think you sould change something in colors. It's darker than your characteristics:D. Congratulations!
Ps: I wonder if your logo's colour is influenced by your mood at the moment???:D
